Facilitator Training

This course will provide healthcare staff the tools, resources, and support to utilize the Patient Family Advisor Skills Exchange (PFASE) curriculum in their preparing PFA partners.  The curriculum allows individuals to schedule and facilitate the PFASE independently or with the support of the PFCCpartners staff.

Who should consider becoming a PFA Skills Exchange Facilitator*:

  • Hospital/healthcare organization staff members who oversee expanding Patient Family Advisory Councils
  • Experienced Patient Family Advisors with a desire to support the growth of others in that role
  • People with a passion for building the capacity and development of Patient Family Advisors

*To effectively engage through the PFA Skills Exchange Curriculum, Facilitators must have at least 1 year of experience in partnering with Patient Family Advisors.

After attending the 7 hour in person Facilitator Training Program, each Facilitator will be certified to facilitate PFASE events using the PFCCpartners curriculum and materials.  PFASE Facilitator Certification is active for one year with a 1 hour phone session with Libby Hoy available for annual recertification.

“I am so thrilled to have participated in the PFASE facilitator training! It gave me the confidence and expertise to train patient and family advisors at Stanford. The focus on advisor skills is crucial, and we have had great feedback from our patients and families from our trainings. PFCC has such a wealth of experience with what patient and families want and need to know before stepping into their advisory role. I am so grateful for PFCCpartner’s support as we continue to grow our program.”
