In this interactive didactic session using evidence-based information and our own lived experiences, we will describe the importance of health literacy in healthcare and research. We will explore key concepts of health literacy and ask participants to apply these concepts to real-world examples including patient education materials, research consent forms and data collection instruments. Finally, we will provide practice guidance in plain language writing.
